OPEN LETTER TO HONORABLE JOHN HICKENLOOPER, GOVERNOR OF COLORADO

Dear John,

Congrats on two successful terms as Governor. Colorado is the best state in the country and perhaps the universe, except I haven’t been everywhere in the universe.  But anyway, I’m writing to you about another critical Colorado matter.

If you haven’t noticed, an ugly spat has broken out about beer between two Colorado boys.  One is from a name you’d recognize:  Coors.  The other is a leader of the national Craft Beer Association in Boulder.

I’m not really sure what the fight is really about, but with your political acumen and of course, beer experience, we thought you could settle this dispute for Colorado Beer drinkers. You could appoint a blue-ribbon panel of beer tasters.  I would volunteer!  Let the panel give you recommendations for official, Colorado Governor, declarations as well as penalties for beer devils and pardons for beer saints.

…………..OR, we could just let consumers decide one pint at a time which beer they would prefer to taste and how much they are willing to pay.   In fact, forget the whole blue-ribbon panel idea.

Oh, by the way, I hear you’re out of a job in a few months.  Give me a call and I’ll buy you lunch and a beer since retired people sometimes have a hard time making ends meet.  I could give you a reference too as I think you’ve done a good job.

Respectfully,

Randy Howell

President of the Colorado Craft Beer Hall of Fame as well as Colorado Citizen
